Grid Multiplication


I agree that everyone should try and learn the times table up to 12 times as it really helps you carry out estimates and checking your calculations. But what about calculations that involve higher value numbers. I was only given one method at school and that was it. It was that way and that way only. I believe that everyone should be shown various methods and then choose the one that suits the individual. Having taught young adults that left school and still struggling with maths, I would like to share the one method that the majority found easy to do and remember. One of the things I noticed was most were taught a grid method that resulted in the incorrect answers. Therefore, in the video below, I demonstrate the one method that most of my students were comfortable with.
